The Sound of the Glitch: Inhabiting Error in the Age of A.I.
As part of Road to EDI, Fondazione Morra Greco hosts two days of performance, workshop and training rooted in the research of sound artist Roberto Salernitano and his manifesto Meccanica Quasica.
14.09.2026 e 15.09.2026
The Sound of the Glitch stems from the research of sound artist Roberto Salernitano and from his manifesto Meccanica Quasica. Traditional instruments, self-built electronic devices -the quasifoni – generative synthesizers and mantric structures move through the Foundation’s spaces to explore the cracks in which technology drifts from its original function.
In a society shaped by algorithmic efficiency, the glitch ceases to be a malfunction and becomes a gesture of resistance, both artistic and educational. Confronted with noise and matter, the algorithm “hallucinates” meaning: it is within this gap that the encounter takes place.
The project unfolds as an agora of research and co-creation, where sound practice meets the methodologies of art education and multisensory mediation, in a direct dialogue between the artist, his mentor, and educators working across the local territory.
The module is part of Road to EDI, the programme of activities developed within EDI Global Forum to sustain an ongoing dialogue between the global dimension and local rootedness in museum and cultural mediation. In Naples, this dialogue takes the form of two days entirely devoted to sound as a pedagogical and critical tool.
Programme
Sunday 14 September | 6:00 pm
Performance and Participation
A performative action by Roberto Salernitano centred on an installation of interactive devices and repurposed sound objects. The performance opens into a participatory workshop: the audience becomes an active part of the sound-making process, dissolving the distinction between those who produce and those who listen.
Monday 15 September | 5:00 pm
Training and Co-creation
A theoretical and practical exploration of critical listening and of sound devices as multisensory tools. A time for exchange and for reworking error, to move beyond the passivity of sight and bring the body back to the centre.
